Founded in 1974 and with a current membership of nearly 300, the Louisiana Archaeological Society (LAS) brings together professional and avocational archaeologists interested in investigating, interpreting, and preserving information on the prehistoric Indians and the early history of Louisiana. For a small membership fee you receive the Newsletter (published three times a year) and the bulletin, Louisiana Archaeology. A two-day annual meeting is held each year in a city around the state. There are active chapters in various parts of the state. This is a perfect opportunity to get educated about the history of Louisiana and get a real insight into the real facts and find out the truth. You can become a member of the Division of Archaeology and get involved in the recent events related to culture, recreation and tourism.
