Jason Emery Jason A. Emery
406 Tricou St.
New Orleans, LA 70117

Jason was born in Indiana. He headed to Tennessee to college in 1994. Prior to entering college he had considered pursuing a degree in chemistry or in history, which is why, of course, he became an archaeologist--a good combination of the two. He graduated from the University of the South, Sewanee, in 1998 with a B.A. in Anthropology. Based on his desire to get deeper into debt and learn more about the past, he attended Louisiana State University and graduated in 2004, with an M.A. in Anthropology, specializing in Historic Archaeology.

His interests are the historic and prehistoric periods. However, his primary area of interest is the contact period, particularly the interactions between indigenous Native Americans and the French/French-Canadians. He has worked for archaeological contracting firms, the State Historic Preservation Office, and the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana. Since Hurricane Katrina (2005), he has worked as a Liaison between the State Historic Preservation Office and FEMA for the response and recovery efforts. He wants to ensure that the Louisiana Archaeological Society continues to remain a venue for the exchange of ideas and a place for fellowship between folks interested in the past.

Dennis Jones Dennis Jones

Baton Rouge, LA 70808
ofc ph # 225 381 8201
cell ph # 225 572 5464

Dennis, born in Arkansas, was raised in Memphis, TN. After experiencing an epiphany with a lithic scatter in his grandfather's plowed field near Forrest City, Arkansas, he pondered a caeer in archaeology. Despite being relatively sober for most of his life, he pursued that career anyway. With a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis and an M.A. from LSU, he has worked in many places: Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and even exotic Mississippi. A longtime LAS member, he now has the dubious honor of being the newsletter editor. Please feel free to send him any announcements, news, complaints, or praise (?).
