LOUISIANA ARCHAEOLOGY   is the annual bulletin of the Louisiana Archaeological Society. INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS

Two copies of a manuscript must be submitted. If typed, manuscripts must be on one side only of white 8.5 by 11-inch rag content bond paper (not easy-erase) and the original and one clear photocopy should be furnished. For word-processed manuscripts, two legible hard copies are required. If accepted for publication, please submit a 3.5 double-sided, double-density floppy diskette. Please advise editor of the program used.

Manuscripts should be double-spaced and one-inch margins should be allowed on every side. Include an abstract of 150 words or less that specifically mentions the most important points in your paper. Footnotes are discouraged. References should be cited in body of text, set within parentheses, i.e., (Author 1974: 10-12). Such citations should be placed immediately after reference and should not be collected at ends of paragraphs. Do not use ibid., op. cit., or similar abbreviations. References should be listed alphabetically by author and chronologically by year in a section entitled "References Cited." Contributors should check this volume or American Antiquity (Vol. 57, No. 4, pp. 749-770, 1992) for other points of style and format.

Uncalibrated C14 ages must be cited first. They must be given as years B.P. (do not convert to A.D./B.C.) and followed by 1-sigma factor. Give lab number, kind of material dated, and whether isotopic fractionation correction has been made. Example: 3490 ± 90 B.P. (Tx-4107; wood charcoal; 13C= -21.7%). Calibrated dates may be given as (example): 1740 -1330 cal B.C. (p= .05) (cite calibration program and whether calibrated at 1 or 2 sigma).

All line drawings and photographs are referred to as "Figures" and should be numbered consecutively. Figures should be of high quality and planned for reduction of effective page size, 4 by 6 inches, including caption. Hand lettering is not permitted. Tables are numbered consecutively and must bear captions. Captions for figures and tables should be short but telegraphic. They should be clearly identified with the illustrations and/or tables they refer to. Instructions for orientation and/or reduction of figures and tables may be placed on caption sheets.

Two copies of complete manuscripts (including title, author's name and association, abstract, body, references cited, figures, tables, and captions) should be sent to:
